Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, depending on the line of business. They transport waste or recyclable material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once the truck reaches legal load capacity. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and transport large open‑top containers, all requiring skilled backing maneuvers. All vehicle operation must comply with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, document findings on DVIRs, and immediately report unsafe situations, incidents, or service‑related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. Drivers attend required training programs, briefings, and meetings, working closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and share best practices. They also communicate customer requests, handle service interruptions, and ensure each receptacle is fully emptied and the site left clean. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with lift attachments to transport waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer or recycling facilities. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, DOT and all applicable laws while executing skilled backing and maneuvering. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, service interruptions, and customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Participate in scheduled training, briefings, and meetings and collaborate on route‑efficiency improvements. • Complete end‑of‑day documentation, check‑out procedures, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Meet physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling heavy containers.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a valid Class A or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement, at least one year of commercial or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, a minimum age of 18, and legal authorization to work in the country. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role demands physical capabilities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling heavy containers, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. • Hold a valid Class A or Class B CDL with air‑brake endorsement and at least one year of commercial or military driving experience. • Be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada, and possess a high school diploma or GED (preferred).
