About the Role
The Engineer manages, evaluates, and assesses information necessary to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the quality specified by contract documents. This role has supervisory responsibility for Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Interns, and is the individual responsible for building the overall project “on paper.” Reports to the Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Project Executive. • Liaise with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, Turner staff, and owner's representatives to resolve plan and specification issues. • Oversee contract drawings and subcontract information, ensuring alignment with the estimate. • Manage the project budget. • Coordinate submittals and shop drawings, assess conformance to specifications, and resolve interpretation conflicts. • Negotiate change orders, prepare analyses, obtain estimates, secure architect and owner approvals, and resolve disputes. • Oversee project close‑out, preparing final records such as RFIs, warranties, as‑builts, O&M manuals, attic stock, and spare parts. • Supervise Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns, including input on performance appraisals. • Prepare scope of work documents for trades. • Develop reports on general conditions items, labor, safety, change order logs, and quality control. • Schedule and manage subcontractor coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings, and submittal review meetings.

What You Bring
The position is located in Huntsville, AL (ZIP 35804) and falls under the Huntsville Main division. It is a regular, experienced, salaried exempt role within the Construction job family. A bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and experience with BIM and LEAN technologies. Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules, as well as proven leadership and interpersonal skills, are essential. The physical demands of the role include regularly sitting, standing, walking, and using hands, as well as occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and possess adequate vision for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception tasks. The work environment may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and caustic chemicals, with noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud.
