Job Highlights
About the Role
The incumbent will manage all aspects of distribution contractors within the Regional Operations Team, delivering the annual capital expenditure (ACE) plan to improve system reliability. They will collaborate with technical and operating groups, oversee routine maintenance, measure productivity, analyze budgets, and maintain stakeholder engagement, while also leading the standby response team during unplanned events. Safety is a core responsibility; the leader must ensure personal and team compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, work safely in remote areas without communications, and handle conditions involving helicopters, UTVs, and extreme temperatures. Environmental Management System compliance and commitment to team development are also required. Key accountabilities include enforcing the Contractor Safety Management Program, leading the contract management team with KPI tracking, coordinating outage planning with NSISO, executing long‑ and short‑term work plans, overseeing quality assurance, approving change requests, resolving billing disputes, and continuously seeking operational efficiencies. Emergency and reactive maintenance must be performed safely when needed. • Ensure Contractor Safety Management Program compliance and conduct field safety observations. • Lead contract management team, set and report KPIs, and develop team performance under the Management Operating System. • Oversee distribution outage planning and coordinate with NSISO to maintain grid reliability. • Execute long‑ and short‑term work and resource plans across the province using internal and external resources. • Manage quality assurance for pre‑ and post‑work, incorporating field feedback into future planning. • Approve contractor change requests and resolve disputes to support billing processes. • Identify and implement efficiencies in work execution and management. • Direct emergency and reactive maintenance work safely and effectively. • Maintain Environmental Management System compliance under your responsibility.

What You Bring
Successful candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or be eligible for P.Eng. designation) with 5‑7 years of electric utility experience, or a Powerline Technician/Industrial Electrician background with 10+ years experience. A strong understanding of safety and reliability standards such as SPC, Rubber Gloving Code, and NERC is required, along with project management and leadership experience; a valid driver’s license and availability for after‑hours emergencies are also needed. • Provide after‑hours emergency service direction; hold a valid driver’s license.
