About the Role
The Managing Director Finance (MDF) is a senior commercial role based in Sydney or Melbourne, tasked with leading a team of commercial professionals and overseeing the holistic financial performance of Yunex Australia. Reporting to the APAC Managing Director Finance with a dotted line to the Australian MD, the MDF supports country strategy and major iconic projects. The MDF drives all finance‑related topics—including tax, audits, tendering, project execution, forecasting, budgeting and KPI reporting—acting as a thought leader that implements financial steering themes and advocates the country’s finance needs within the global organisation. This role ensures alignment with Yunex policies and guides the business toward sustainable growth. In addition to financial stewardship, the MDF collaborates closely with the hub and global finance teams, supports sales and bid initiatives, leads strategic projects and change processes, and fosters a culture of ownership, diversity and cooperation across the organisation. • Advise on short‑ and long‑term business and financial planning, providing data‑driven strategic reconciliations and business cases. • Lead the annual country budget and quarterly forecasting processes, partnering with Hub FPM to set targets. • Support sales and bid teams with financial expertise and leadership throughout the tender lifecycle. • Monitor financial risks across major projects and analyse cost/spend control to optimise expenditures. • Interpret monthly financial results, prepare KPI dashboards and ensure robust financial controls. • Oversee accounting and FPM activities, manage capex allocation and maintain working capital and cash‑flow forecasts. • Coach and develop finance staff, leading strategic projects and change initiatives alongside the MD. • Provide input to the hub for group‑level analyses, policy development and prepare accruals for group closing. • Own EBIT/EBITDA, cash flow and order intake for Yunex Australia, ensuring financial health. • Lead a diverse, multi‑cultural commercial team across Australia and collaborate with sister entities and finance functions. • Negotiate with customers during bid, tender and project execution phases, resolving commercial issues as needed. • Implement contemporary business models such as alliances and PPPs while ensuring compliance with procurement and accounting standards. • Partner with pre‑contracts and business development to drive growth and capture new opportunities. • Prepare finance reports, project forecasts and manage month‑end closing, budgeting and cost‑center controlling. • Promote an ownership culture, diversity and cooperation; train staff in contract negotiation and commercial management.
