About the Role
Diesel Mechanics at WM service trucks and equipment that serve more than 20 million customers nationwide, using modern tools to maintain diesel and, at some sites, CNG fleets. Each day involves fixing vehicles, ensuring they leave the shop ready to support the local community. Key duties include inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems; estimating time and material costs; adhering to Standard Labor Repair Times; responding to emergency breakdown calls; conducting safety checks; completing paperwork and parts documentation; assisting senior mechanics; reviewing driver vehicle inspection reports; and maintaining a clean, OSHA‑compliant work area. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems • Estimate time and material costs; follow Standard Labor Repair Times • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls • Perform safety checks and maintain OSHA‑compliant work area • Complete repair documentation and parts usage paperwork • Assist senior mechanics on project work

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, be 18 years or older, and be legally eligible to work in the United States. Successful applicants must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical, and be able to meet the physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. The role requires frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and constant standing, walking, and grasping, with occasional sitting and balancing. Workers are regularly exposed to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather, operating both inside garages and outdoors in inclement conditions. • Minimum 2 years relevant diesel mechanic experience • Valid driver’s license with clean record; 18+ years old • Legal eligibility to work in the United States • Pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical • Physical ability to lift, push, pull, crouch, climb, and stand for long periods • Team‑oriented, independent, enjoys variety, strong problem‑solver
