What You Bring
HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) for our Building Engineering Services Business Group. Our integrated team delivers core Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Site Civil engineering services across mission‑critical sectors such as healthcare, science and technology, justice, power distribution, and transportation, while expanding into commercial real estate, finance, hospitality, municipal, manufacturing/industrial, and federal markets. We set realistic expectations and deliver high‑quality designs on time. To support rapid growth in mechanical engineering, we need a talented EIT/Coordinator who can meet aggressive deadlines while gaining exposure to cutting‑edge technologies, diverse trades, systems, and stakeholders. The role also includes mentoring early‑career staff and developing the mechanical bench through regular coaching. This position offers valuable experience and a clear path toward career progression. • Master's degree in architectural engineering with a mechanical emphasis • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (or be hired as Coordinator and obtain EIT) • Experience with healthcare, science and technology, or civic facilities • Interest in sustainable design/LEED (desired) • Previous experience at an architectural/engineering consulting firm • Experience designing HVAC systems for building projects • Proficiency in Revit • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar, equipment selection software)
