About the Role
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co‑workers by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations, and you will be accountable for environmental performance in line with the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives. Demonstrating knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and a proactive approach to safety and risk assessment is essential. • Travel to various locations across the province to support other areas as needed. • Participate in on‑the‑job training programs to develop additional skills. • Ensure personal and co‑worker safety by complying with Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. • Uphold environmental performance in accordance with the Environmental Management System. • Apply knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and engage proactively in risk assessments. • Reside within 30 minutes of headquarters and be prepared to respond to after‑hour emergencies. • Perform manual labour using common hand and power tools.

What You Bring
Key elements of this role include temporary assignments to other locations to assist other areas when required, with travel throughout the province. The successful candidate will complete in‑house safety, environmental, vehicle‑operation and other job‑related training courses, and must be willing to engage in on‑the‑job training or programs that develop additional skills. Your primary residence must be located within 30 minutes of headquarters, and you may be required to respond to after‑hour emergency situations. This position is safety‑sensitive; the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy, which includes a confidential pre‑employment alcohol and drug test. To thrive in this role you need a Grade 12 education or equivalent with strong reading and writing skills, the ability to perform manual labour and use common hand and power tools, and at least two years of safe driving experience with a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence. Experience in communications, forestry or utilities is an asset, as is an off‑highway vehicle and trailer‑towing certification.
