About the Role

The role involves installing and commissioning a variety of building control systems under general supervision, following codes, company procedures, and engineering drawings. The technician works alongside prime electrical contractors, maintains a positive customer interface, and ensures installations meet local and national standards. Ongoing communication with management and thorough documentation are required to keep projects on track and as‑built drawings up to date. • Install and commission building control systems according to codes, procedures, and engineering drawings. • Collaborate with prime electrical contractors and maintain positive customer relationships. • Install raceways, cables, and wiring to meet local/national standards and customer requirements. • Layout electrical controls to minimize total installed cost. • Mount, terminate, and test control equipment and field‑installed devices. • Assist sales with electrical estimates and retrofit project walkthroughs. • Validate termination points for equipment such as chillers, boilers, and rooftop units. • Perform wiring and termination checks using voltmeters and handheld testers. • Communicate job progress, needs, and issues to management and complete required documentation. • Provide feedback to engineering and keep as‑built drawings current. • Resolve or escalate installation conflicts on‑site while adhering to safety policies. • Maintain compliance with Johnson Controls Zero Harm safety program.

What You Bring

Candidates must have an electrical apprenticeship or formal training in installation techniques, demonstrate the ability to read and interpret drawings, and possess working knowledge of local control codes. Experience in determining material scope, independent work capability, and a background in controls installation are essential. Preferred qualifications include four years of controls work, familiarity with Johnson Controls low‑voltage systems, foreman experience, commercial construction exposure, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. • Electrical apprenticeship or formal training in installation techniques required. • Ability to read and interpret drawings and knowledge of local control codes. • Preferably 4+ years experience with controls installations, Johnson Controls low‑voltage systems, foreman leadership, and commercial construction background.
