About the Role

The architect will proactively form and lead a council of database experts and interested parties across ACS, taking personal responsibility for ensuring organizational readiness to deliver high‑quality database‑backed services while collaborating with infrastructure engineering to automate and deploy standards across the database fleet. Key responsibilities include continuously assessing database readiness and needs, identifying significant risks and gaps, and chartering both tactical and strategic solutions for the DB platform team to execute. The architect will create and evangelize best‑practice health models, leverage industry‑standard observability tooling and AWS automation to implement standards across a fleet of databases, provide direct consulting to individual teams and COE leads, select appropriate training opportunities, and deliver tactical support during true emergencies. • Assess database readiness and identify significant risks or gaps. • Lead a high‑impact council of database experts across ACS. • Design and execute tactical and strategic solutions for the DB platform. • Implement proactive capacity management, monitoring/alerting, and performance tuning. • Manage sharding, migrations, schema and query optimization, and deadlock resolution. • Optimize load, improve database performance, and oversee data replication for reporting. • Establish and evangelize best‑practice health models using observability tools and AWS automation. • Provide consulting to individual teams and COE leads on readiness and risk mitigation. • Curate and deliver training programs on database technologies and management. • Offer tactical support during emergency incidents.

What You Bring

The Database Architect serves as the subject matter expert for databases within Autodesk Construction Solutions (ACS). Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, AEC Construction, this role is remote and based in Canada. Minimum qualifications require at least eight years of experience in database architecture for large‑scale enterprise SaaS platforms, eight years of PostgreSQL expertise, five years with cloud data technologies, five years with cloud‑based NoSQL architectures, and strong communication and organizational skills. Preferred qualifications emphasize leadership and team‑building across distributed service owners, fearless problem‑solving, model‑driven thinking, a strong bias for action, and a solid sense of accountability. • Minimum: 8+ years in database architecture for enterprise SaaS, 8+ years PostgreSQL, 5+ years cloud data technologies, 5+ years cloud‑based NoSQL, strong communication and organization. • Preferred: Demonstrated leadership and team‑building across distributed groups, fearless problem‑solving, model‑driven thinking, strong bias for action and accountability.
