Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, depending on the line of business. They transport waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once the legal load capacity is reached. Roles include Commercial Drivers who pick up heavy containers, Residential Drivers who collect household waste, and Roll‑off Drivers who move large open‑top or compactor containers, all requiring skilled backing maneuvers in tight environments. Daily duties involve complying with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws, and completing pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections documented on a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. Drivers must promptly report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch, and they attend required training, briefings, and meetings. They also communicate customer requests, ensure receptacles are emptied and the site left clean, follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all legal regulations. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, property damage, and service interruptions immediately. • Attend all required training sessions, briefings, and meetings. • Coordinate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices. • Communicate customer requests and ensure sites are left clean after dumping receptacles. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist other drivers as directed.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least one year of experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL, be at least 18 years old, and be legally eligible to work in the United States. A Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an air‑brake endorsement is required, and recent military driving experience is accepted as equivalent. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. • Hold a valid CDL Class A or B with air‑brake endorsement (or equivalent recent military driving experience). • Minimum one year of CDL‑required vehicle operation experience; must be 18 + and legally authorized to work in the U.S. • Preferred: High school diploma or GED. • Physical tasks include standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, and sitting.
