About the Role

The technician is responsible for collecting facility field data for updating records and preparing design documents, including measurement, mapping, photography, inventory, and staking under senior staff direction. They act as a design or staking assistant, accurately gathering data with paper drawings, electronic devices, digital cameras, laser range finders, and GPS receivers. The role requires correctly identifying items to document with minimal supervision and recording measurements using proper standards and symbology. They also may assist in power restoration during natural disasters. Engineering roles at Pike involve transmission and distribution, substations, smart‑meter technologies, renewable energy, telecommunications, and storm‑damage assessment. What You Bring

The first level field technician role serves as a potential training slot for Designer or CAD positions. Candidates should be organized, possess strong written communication, and be familiar with MS Office and CAD drafting systems where applicable. Experience in utility design or line construction, and familiarity with GIS and basic data structures are preferred. The incumbent must be self‑motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable working outdoors. The incumbent must adhere to Pike Engineering’s Core Values and Safety Manual, advocate for safety, and participate in safety initiatives. Meeting production targets, respecting project milestones, and occasional overnight travel are expected. Required personal attributes include self‑motivation, the ability to work independently and in teams, customer orientation, multitasking, and training new peers. A valid driver’s license is required for field work. • Travel overnight when required and work independently in outdoor environments. • Demonstrate self‑motivation, teamwork, customer focus, and the ability to multitask. • Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain safe driving practices.
