About the Role

The Combination Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assisting pipe fitters in the installation of various industrial piping systems, including pipe supports, racks, and other materials. This work contributes directly to the completion of project piping networks. Key responsibilities include selecting equipment and planning layouts, positioning, aligning, cutting, and assembling metal components in various body positions, securing parts with bolts, clamps, or tack‑welds, and operating arc, gas‑shielded, submerged‑arc, or other welding equipment to join materials to piping systems according to prescribed procedures while identifying equipment needs and safety risks. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. • Perform weld repairs and fabricate pipe components as required. • Select welding equipment, plan layouts, and determine proper welding procedures for each job. • Align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components in various body positions. • Secure parts with bolts, clamps, or tack‑welds before final welding. • Operate arc, gas‑shielded, submerged‑arc, or other welding equipment to join materials to piping systems. • Identify required equipment and assess safety risks for each task. • Assist pipe fitters with pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication when not welding. • Maintain reliable transportation, work at heights, and meet all physical demand requirements.

What You Bring

Candidates must be able to weld in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions, perform both stick and TIG welding on pipe, hold a current Zachry welding certification (or pass a weld test), and possess at least four years of experience with industrial‑size pipe (40, 80, and 160). Additional expectations include solid knowledge of metal properties, the ability to meet all physical requirements, and ownership of required tools at the start date. The role demands extensive physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, working at heights, and operating in adverse weather while wearing the required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vest, gloves, and leather boots. Compliance with PPE standards is mandatory. • Weld in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions using stick and TIG processes. • Hold a current Zachry welding certification or successfully pass a weld test. • Bring at least four years of experience welding industrial‑size pipe (40, 80, 160) of carbon steel, stainless, and chrome.
