About the Role

What You Bring
The Test Engineer Apprentice role is based on‑site in Scarborough and is part of Schneider Electric’s UK Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship Programme, offering a £21,000 annual salary. As a Test Engineer you will safeguard product quality throughout manufacturing and delivery, following Quality Management guidelines, conducting measurements, diagnostics, and contingency planning. Candidates must have a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 including maths, English and a science subject, plus either a Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship or 90 credits of a Level 3 BTEC. No prior experience is required, but a demonstrable interest in engineering through school or hobbies is essential. Essential attributes include a genuine interest in engineering, efficiency, accuracy, teamwork, strong communication and literacy, high motivation, reliability, flexibility and good attendance. Desirable traits are PC literacy with Microsoft Office and an aptitude for practical science or engineering. • Perform equipment system qualification, including Gage R&R studies. • Demonstrate interest in an engineering discipline and work efficiently and accurately. • Exhibit strong teamwork, communication, and literacy skills. • Be PC literate with Microsoft Office (desirable). • Possess aptitude for practical science or engineering skills (desirable).

The apprenticeship combines practical on‑the‑job training delivered by Schneider Electric with protected off‑the‑job training provided by an approved training provider. Apprentices spend at least 20 % of their working week (average six hours) on classroom‑style learning, while receiving mentorship, induction, wellbeing support and regular performance reviews. Schneider Electric does not provide visa sponsorship for this apprenticeship, and certain visa types may be ineligible for apprenticeship funding under current government rules.
