About the Role
The Technical Manager will oversee skills and resources within the Technical department, coordinating with external consultants and authorities to optimise each development. The role ensures technical information is consistent, high‑quality, and compliant with legislation while meeting KPI targets and operating framework standards. Internal candidates should inform their line manager before applying for this role. This ensures appropriate succession planning and transparency. • Deliver consistent technical information across all schemes. • Design and maintain a Quality Management Process for technical data. • Provide expertise to adapt to changes in building legislation and standards. • Achieve KPI targets for all Technical functions. • Ensure compliance with the Taylor Wimpey Operating Framework. • Manage CDM/EMS processes, acting as deputy Principal Designer and mitigating design risks. • Serve as primary communication link between Technical, internal departments, and external agencies. • Organise and record technical meetings with timely action points. • Prepare and maintain design programmes and progress reports for management. • Support evaluation and appraisal of new site acquisition opportunities. • Negotiate with statutory and planning authorities, consultants, and highways to meet project objectives. • Oversee delivery of strategic infrastructure projects.

What You Bring
• Minimum 5 years experience as Technical or Senior Technical Manager in development. • Proven track record delivering projects from concept to completion at manager level. • Professional qualification and membership (e.g., RICS, RTPI, RIBA, ICE). • Strong understanding of the full development and technical process. • Ability to create and manage programmes and budgets. • Experience leading multiple individuals or teams. • Broad business acumen across the development lifecycle.
