About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service for containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds, often maneuvering them into staging areas, while residential drivers collect household waste and must navigate driveways, alleys, and lots. Roll‑off drivers load, transport, and unload large open‑top or compactor containers, frequently working in tight overhead environments and requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers across all driver types. • Operate vehicle per WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and all legal requirements. • Complete pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and submit DVIR reports. • Report unsafe situations, service issues, incidents, accidents, and property damage to Operations Manager or Dispatch promptly. • Participate in scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings as required. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and best practices. • Communicate customer requests and service interruptions (e.g., closed streets, heavy receptacles) to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Ensure receptacles are fully emptied and the site is left clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and check‑out procedures. • Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
