About the Role

Parsons is seeking an Environmental Project Specialist to join our team. In this role you will collaborate with a variety of professionals on multiple projects serving public and private sector clients. You will be involved in both field‑based work and project management, supporting environmental site assessments, remediation, and excess soil planning. The position includes executing field projects such as site supervision, sample collection, and monitoring programs, as well as coordinating investigations and preparing reports for environmental site investigations and remediation projects. Training will be provided on Parsons and client health and safety programs, field investigation procedures, and digital data collection software. You will supervise subcontractors, ensure health and safety compliance, and manage field data collection and reporting for environmental investigations and remediation projects while working closely with project coordinators to meet schedule and budget objectives. • Supervise subcontractors for environmental field programs and remediation activities. • Oversee health and safety compliance for Parsons and subcontractor staff on site. • Perform monitoring and groundwater sampling using digital data collection tools. • Collect and document soil, sediment, and soil‑gas samples during drilling and excavation. • Operate field equipment such as GPS, data loggers, survey levels, and gas meters. • Coordinate with project managers to communicate findings, timelines, and budget status. • Manage ESA and remediation projects, track budgets, and prepare technical reports.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a diploma or degree in earth sciences, environmental technology, engineering, or a related field, along with at least two years of applicable field experience supporting environmental assessments or remediation. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with personal vehicle access, strong written and oral communication skills, and be familiar with key Ontario regulations governing brownfield development, excess soils, and waste. Physical ability to perform demanding outdoor work and willingness to travel for extended out‑of‑town assignments are also required. Desired credentials include certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) and consulting experience with Canadian environmental laws, especially within Ontario. Experience with hazardous substance surveys, soil‑gas sampling, GIS, databases, and emerging technologies such as AI, as well as academic and practical knowledge of soil classification, are advantageous. • Hold a diploma or degree in earth sciences, environmental technology, or related engineering fields. • Possess at least two years of field experience supporting environmental assessments or remediation projects. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle. • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and a process‑oriented mindset. • Familiarity with Ontario regulations O.Reg. 153/04, 406/19, and 347 related to brownfield development and waste. • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work and travel for extended out‑of‑town assignments. • Desired: Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) certification. • Desired: Consulting experience with Canadian environmental laws and contaminated‑site projects. • Desired: Experience with hazardous substance surveys, soil‑gas sampling, and GIS/database software. • Desired: Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI for environmental project delivery.
