About the Role
The Senior M/E Engineer will complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities. This role provides overall management direction and expertise in estimating, scheduling, quality control and commissioning for mechanical/electrical scopes on selected projects and for M/E personnel. Responsibilities include collecting and assembling data, developing estimates, generating systems and bid analysis, and identifying new business opportunities. Core responsibilities include actively participating in the company’s safety and quality culture, performing entry‑level mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks, and learning to develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated tools. The engineer assists in reviewing design options, developing scopes of work for bids, performing systems analysis, and supporting the shop drawing and submittal processes. Additional duties involve job inspections, identifying constructability issues, and assisting with commissioning checklists and functional testing. As a senior M/E Engineer, the individual handles increasingly complex construction activities, creates comprehensive M/E estimates, and reviews design options to provide value‑engineering suggestions. They coordinate scopes of work during the bid process, develop sequencing plans, conduct quality inspections, and generate commissioning plans with functional testing verification. The role also includes mentoring less experienced co‑workers, negotiating subcontracts, purchasing equipment, building client relationships, and contributing to business development and community representation. • Manage and execute complex mechanical/electrical construction activities, including estimating, scheduling, quality control, and commissioning. • Develop budgetary M/E estimates using program and schematic designs with automated estimating tools. • Review mechanical and electrical design options, conduct systems analysis, and provide value‑engineering recommendations. • Coordinate M/E scopes of work during the bid process and assist in subcontractor selection. • Create sequencing plans, pre‑functional checklists, and functional testing procedures; verify contractor performance. • Perform job inspections, identify quality issues, and develop quality control programs. • Mentor less‑experienced staff and promote diversity and inclusion within the organization. • Negotiate subcontracts, purchase equipment, and build client relationships. • Contribute to business development through interviews, presentations, and marketing support.

What You Bring
Key competencies include accurate and timely work performance, advanced verbal and written communication, and strong presentation skills. The engineer must be proficient in MS Office, scheduling software, BIM, and JE Dunn’s construction M/E tools, as well as capable of reading plans, drawings, and specifications. Knowledge of construction management fundamentals, Lean processes, and budgeting is essential, along with the ability to build collaborative relationships across teams. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field is required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Preferred candidates have ten or more years of construction management experience. The position requires a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
