About the Role
The Carpenter is responsible for designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and other items of wood, plywood, and wallboard using pneumatic and electric power tools. They will fasten materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives and perform a final check to ensure accuracy. The role requires knowledge of advanced layout, use of Simon forms, anchor bolt layout, material takeoff from drawings, and safety requirements for building work, as well as understanding safety hazards and safe operation of tools and equipment. Work may be in plant operations or construction jobsite settings. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches, preparing reports, and instructing laborers and other construction trade helpers. The carpenter builds and sets forms, uses level instruments, ties rebar, builds scaffolds, completes finish carpentry, measures with tape and rulers, sets screeds, installs batter boards, and operates various hand and power tools. They inspect areas, conduct repairs or maintenance, and assist other craft workers as needed. • Read and interpret blueprints/sketches and complete reports • Instruct laborers and other construction trade helpers • Build and set forms, use level instruments, tie rebar, build scaffolds, and perform finish carpentry • Measure with tape/ruler, set screeds, install batter boards, and operate various hand and power tools • Inspect areas and conduct repairs or maintenance, assisting other craft workers as needed

What You Bring
Physical requirements include the ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lb (occasionally up to 100 lb), and to perform repetitive hand/arm and leg motions. The job demands hand‑eye coordination, the ability to communicate verbally, and the capacity to work from sedentary to heavy tasks, including operating electric, gas, and pneumatic tools, climbing and balancing on steel or wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Workers must frequently grasp, lift, handle, and feel objects, endure prolonged bending, twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pulling, standing, and lifting, and navigate uneven, muddy, rocky, or sandy surfaces, confined spaces, and adverse weather conditions. Mental qualifications require effective communication with management and supervision, reading and writing comprehension for giving and receiving directions and safety policies, and the ability to perform mathematical calculations. The carpenter must work at various tempos, maintain concentration amid distractions, make decisions, and be detail‑oriented, remembering, examining, and observing details.
