About the Role

The Design Engineer works primarily in an office, focusing on pre‑construction design, development of construction plans, and construction support during erection. Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, they apply standard and advanced engineering principles, utilize field data and digital technologies, and communicate solutions effectively with project management and construction personnel. • Perform structural engineering analyses for energy infrastructure buildings, substation support structures, deep foundations, retaining walls, and blast walls. • Create finite element models for concrete and steel structures and prepare detailed reports for client and permit review. • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including geotechnical, civil, GIS, and construction management—and communicate findings through written reports and presentations. • Conduct occasional site visits across North America to support construction and erection activities. • Work under the supervision of a Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Engineering Manager in a professional office setting.

What You Bring

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification. • Possess 1–4 years of design experience with concrete and steel materials in structural engineering. • Proficient in RISA, SPColumn, Autodesk Inventor, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). • Preferred: experience designing substation or transmission structures and familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, LPILE, GROUP, FAD, SHAFT, and APILE software. • Physical ability to lift 40 lb and perform tasks involving bending, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain. • Travel up to 25 % of the work year based on seasonal and project requirements.
