About the Role
The Craft Helper/Labor (Mechanical) supports safe, quality, and efficient mechanical maintenance at a petrochemical processing plant. Duties include assisting with preparation, disassembly, repair, fabrication, reassembly, and installation of equipment such as piping, valves, boilers, towers, vessels, tanks, exchangers, reactors, and pumps. The role also provides support services like firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, light equipment operation, material kitting, delivery, and general housekeeping. • Work under direction of a Journeyman and supervision of a Foreman • Assist other crafts when not performing mechanical tasks • Maintain bi‑annual evaluation score of at least 3.0 • Conduct pre‑task hazard assessments and implement mitigation techniques • Perform maintenance on various industrial equipment in a petrochemical facility • Support site safety and quality programs (Safe Catch, Quality Catch, Stop Work Authority, Continuous Improvement, customer initiatives) • Assist with preparation, disassembly, repair, fabrication, reassembly, and installation of piping, fittings, valves, boilers, towers, vessels, tanks, exchangers, reactors, and pumps • Provide firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, light equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting/delivery, and general housekeeping • Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, up to 12 hours per day

What You Bring
The position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency, including conducting pre‑task hazard assessments and participating in site programs such as Safe Catch, Quality Catch, Stop Work Authority, and continuous improvement initiatives. The employee will work under the direction of a Journeyman and the supervision of a Foreman while also assisting other crafts when mechanical duties are not active. The role demands significant physical activity, the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, and the use of personal protective equipment. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, a TWIC card, and maintain required safety credentials throughout employment. • Reliable transportation required • Available for 9/80 schedule, up to 7 days per week, including overtime and call‑outs • Enrolled in an apprenticeship or equivalent certification program • Complete required safety‑sensitive training (hot work, confined space, fresh air work) • Able to use related tools and equipment safely • Read and follow work permits and JSAs • Pass 90‑day probation without disciplinary or attendance issues • Current or former Zachry employee with acceptable ESR rating • Proficient with industrial hand and power tools • Strong problem‑solving ability and agile mindset • Mechanical aptitude with computing, literacy, numeracy, and manual dexterity • Effective teamwork and communication skills • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report • Valid TWIC card and maintain safety credentials • Ability to stand, walk, cycle, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lb, and perform physically demanding work • Good hand/finger dexterity for precision adjustments • Capability to work at extreme heights on various platforms • Ability to work in confined spaces such as tanks, vessels, pits, and excavations • Vision for short and long distances, color, depth perception, and peripheral vision • Wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, chemical suit, and steel‑toe boots
