About the Role
• Perform corrective maintenance to keep plant equipment operating optimally. • Assist with plant and district operations and required maintenance tasks. • Operate and maintain equipment in cogeneration and customer boiler facilities. • Align valves, communicate, and verify equipment startup/shutdown. • Support outage activities including lockout/tagout, system securing, draining, and filling. • Provide shift coverage for Auxiliary Operator and, after one year, for Control Room Operator. • Work 12‑hour rotating shifts, including overtime and on‑call as needed. • Follow all Vicinity Energy policies and procedures.

What You Bring
The O&M Mechanic Second Class reports to the O&M Supervisor in Trenton, N.J., works under general supervision in the Operations Department, and supports plant operations through repairs, equipment removal, and installation. This full‑time, non‑exempt union position requires membership in the L68 Union and offers an hourly rate of $48.64, reduced to $44.14 after a mandatory annuity deduction. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of relevant industry experience—preferably in cogeneration or district energy—and hold a NJ Blue Seal Stationary license or higher. Experience with boilers, chillers, engines, compressors, pumps, cogeneration systems, waste heat recovery, and Cleaver‑Brooks boilers is required. The role demands physical capabilities such as lifting a minimum of 50 lb, climbing, working at heights, confined‑space entry, and operating a forklift. Employees must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory record and be able to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, overtime, and on‑call as needed. • Hold a high school diploma/GED and at least three years of relevant experience. • Possess a NJ Blue Seal Stationary license or higher. • Experience with boilers, chillers, engines, compressors, pumps, cogeneration, waste heat, and Cleaver‑Brooks boilers. • Meet physical demands such as lifting ≥50 lb, climbing, confined‑space work, and forklift operation. • Hold a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
