About the Role

The Heavy‑Equipment Operator role is responsible for operating a range of equipment—including excavators (≤20 ton), dozers (≤150 HP), loaders (<4 cubic yards), forklifts (>12 k), backhoes, and articulated dump trucks—to perform tasks such as material handling, land clearing, grading, trenching, and underground utility work on heavy civil, industrial, and wind projects. • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, forklifts, backhoes, and dump trucks on construction sites. • Perform material handling, land clearing, grading, trenching, and underground utility installation. • Coordinate equipment movements with crew signals and maintain clear communication. • Conduct routine maintenance: cleaning, greasing, oiling, and complete daily reports. • Adhere to all company safety policies and participate in daily toolbox talks. • Maintain OSHA‑compliant trench slopes and follow safety regulations. • Travel to multiple job sites on short notice, up to 90% travel. • Maintain physical stamina for 12‑hour shifts, lift 50‑lb loads, work at heights and in varied weather. • Perform basic arithmetic for weight and volume measurements. • Meet precise accuracy standards and follow set procedures.

What You Bring

The position requires up to 12‑hour shifts, physical stamina to lift and maneuver loads up to 50 lb, and the ability to work in varied weather, heights, and confined spaces. Travel to different job sites may occur on short notice, with up to 90 % travel and a typical 50‑hour work week. • Possess 1–3 years heavy‑equipment operating experience and a valid equipment operator license. • Demonstrate knowledge of MasTec health & safety programs and ability to read technical documents.
