About the Role
In this role you will provide safety leadership, SHEQ and CDM guidance to project teams on some of the most significant infrastructure projects of a generation. You will support the development, implementation and adoption of SHEQ and CDM management systems and contract strategies, while balancing commercial risk with client, staff and operational performance requirements. When needed you will also lead and manage audits in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. • Provide safety leadership, SHEQ, and CDM guidance to multi‑disciplinary project teams. • Develop, implement, and adopt SHEQ and CDM management systems and contract strategies. • Lead and manage audits aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, CDM regulations and Safe by Design principles. • Manage project and commercial risk while meeting client and operational performance targets.

What You Bring
Although the role is rail‑focused, it requires proven experience across rail and related industries, as well as a strong awareness of wider business operations in health and safety, commercial management, people management and business development. Your ability to manage stakeholder relationships will be critical. You will be expected to apply corporate systems, support recruitment and foster staff development. We are looking for a certified Member of the Association of Project Safety (CMaPS) or a Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM), together with a NEBOSH qualification. A good working knowledge of auditing ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 and other health‑and‑safety standards is essential. You must have a proven track record of health‑and‑safety leadership across rail, transport and infrastructure projects throughout the design and construction lifecycle. • Hold CMaPS or MIIRSM certification and a NEBOSH qualification. • Demonstrate expertise in auditing ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 health and safety standards. • Show a proven track record of health and safety leadership across rail, transport and infrastructure projects from design through construction. • Possess strong stakeholder, team and people management skills within multi‑disciplinary engineering programmes.
