About the Role
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical components of surface mining equipment, and will also commission new equipment and train customers on its operation. The role involves ensuring equipment meets defined specifications and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. • Inspect equipment for proper performance and diagnose faults and malfunctions • Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work • Test repaired equipment to verify operational performance • Commission new equipment and provide training at customer sites • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives • Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists • Stay current with industry, customer, product developments, and technical best practices • Perform risk assessments, maintain tools, ensure housekeeping, attend EHS training, and wear required PPE

What You Bring
Sandvik Mining is looking for a licensed Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic in Ontario to join its field service team. The company offers a global network and diverse opportunities for professional growth and recognizes performance through various development programs. • Red Seal certification • Minimum three years of experience with mining equipment (experience with Sandvik equipment is an asset) • Proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues on mining equipment • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Computer literacy (MS Office) • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to mine sites across Canada • Ability to work varied shifts as required • Legal eligibility to work in Canada • Agile, customer‑focused decision making
