About the Role

The role involves planning, laying out, fabricating, assembling, brazing, threading and welding complex piping and pressure‑vessel components. You will work with ferrous and non‑ferrous metals using conventional or automatic submerged‑arc welding, as well as stick, TIG and manual‑arc processes in difficult positions to meet Navy specifications. • Interpret isometric drawings, 3‑D models and welding symbols to fabricate components. • Perform floor erection and fixture assembly of pressure vessels and sub‑assemblies. • Lay out and cut material using centerlines, laser levels and combination squares. • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, bead‑blasting or grinding before welding. • Weld internal and external components (heads, lugs, brackets, piping, valves, oil coolers, etc.) in all positions using SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, stick, TIG or manual arc. • Clean and dress welds to meet Navy welding standards. • Conduct carbon‑arc or plasma‑arc gouging and repair defective welds. • Maintain a safe, organized work area and operate guarded platforms, ladders and welding tables.

What You Bring

Candidates must pass a Navy 2‑inch pipe 6G test with E7018 filler material, hold a high school diploma or GED, and have at least three years of welding experience using SMAW, FCAW and GTAW in all positions. The ability to read isometric drawings, 3‑D models, welding symbols and code specifications, and to use measurement and material‑handling tools, is essential. Continuous physical labor, strict safety practices, and U.S. citizenship are required for this government contract. Preferred qualifications include technical or vocational welding training, experience welding to code standards and exotic materials, rigging and overhead crane operation, and familiarity with military code requirements and specialized weld gauges such as fillet and V‑Wac gauges. • Pass Navy 2‑inch pipe 6G test with E7018 filler material. • Minimum three years of welding experience with SMAW, FCAW and GTAW in all positions. • Proficient with measuring tools, laser levels, fixtures and material‑handling equipment. • Able to read and work from prints, sketches and operational method sheets. • Capable of continuous physical labor and strict safety practices. • U.S. citizenship required for government contract work. • Technical or vocational welding education or equivalent experience. • Experience welding per code standards and with exotic materials. • Rigging and overhead crane operation skills. • Knowledge of military code requirements and use of fillet/V‑Wac gauges.

The plant custom‑designs, develops and manufactures chilled‑water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for U.S. Navy vessels worldwide. The position is a union job with a starting hourly rate of $30.96 plus a $0.70 shift differential, and benefits begin on the first day of employment. Relocation assistance may be offered under certain conditions. • Starting pay $30.96/hr plus $0.70 shift premium; benefits effective day one; relocation assistance may be available.
