About the Role

We have an opportunity for a Communications Technician in Canberra to work on Joint projects, supporting the execution and sustainment of communications systems across defence initiatives. • Execute complex communications technical and maintenance assurance activities according to set priorities and milestones. • Exercise assigned technical authority and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. • Provide technical and maintenance advice to ILSM SHFC, influencing planning and sustainment decisions. • Identify risks, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement of communications systems. • Mentor staff, deliver technical guidance, and manage knowledge sharing within the team. • Apply risk‑management and regulatory‑compliance skills to align with Defence safety and policy frameworks. • Engage and collaborate with internal Defence teams, industry partners, and suppliers to achieve outcomes. • Utilise strategic problem‑solving and decision‑making to support planning and sustainment.

What You Bring

• Demonstrate expertise in communications systems, developing and assessing technical packages and product performance. • Hold relevant higher‑education or vocational qualifications and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance (ITAR compliance may be required).
