About the Role
The Capture Lead / Bid Director role sits within AECOM’s Water business in the Strategy and Growth team, responsible for securing major contracts—typically exceeding £35m in revenue—across regulated water, strategic resource options, and climate resilience sectors. This position drives the end‑to‑end capture process, from early positioning and client engagement to final bid submission and post‑bid analysis. Key duties include shaping growth strategy, developing holistic capture plans, building and maintaining a qualified opportunity pipeline, and leading partnerships and consortiums to strengthen competitive advantage. The role also requires senior‑level client relationship management, strategic commercial oversight, and leading internal bid teams to ensure proposals are compelling, differentiated, and commercially sound. • Lead capture and bidding for major water contracts (typically £35m+ revenue). • Develop and execute holistic capture plans, including win strategies, marketing, and answer planning. • Build and maintain a diversified pipeline of qualified opportunities using data‑driven insights. • Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and consortiums. • Engage senior client stakeholders to position AECOM as the partner of choice throughout the procurement cycle. • Set commercial direction for pursuits, encompassing risk appetite, pricing, and value proposition. • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to bid team members and internal stakeholders. • Deliver compelling, compliant, and persuasive bid content in collaboration with technical writers.

What You Bring
Successful candidates will have a proven record of winning large‑scale water utility contracts, strong technical and delivery expertise, and the ability to translate client needs into winning bid solutions. They must demonstrate executive‑level communication, experience with partner‑led delivery models, deep knowledge of the UK water regulatory environment, and the capacity to operate effectively within matrix organisations. • Demonstrated track record of winning large‑scale water utility contracts. • Strong technical and delivery background with ability to translate client requirements into differentiated solutions. • Executive‑level communication and negotiation skills across clients, partners, and internal leadership. • Experience with partner‑led delivery models, alliances, and multi‑party arrangements. • Deep understanding of the UK water regulatory environment and national water sector. • Proven ability to operate within matrix organisations across bid management and delivery functions.
