About the Role

The role involves traveling across the province to support other locations when needed, completing a range of in‑house safety, environmental, vehicle‑operation, and position‑specific training, and engaging in on‑the‑job skill‑development programs. You will be responsible for maintaining personal and coworker safety by complying with Occupational Health and Safety rules, upholding environmental performance through the EMS, and taking a proactive approach to risk assessments. Residence within 30 minutes of the headquarters is required, and you must be prepared to respond to after‑hours emergencies. • Travel throughout Nova Scotia and assist other locations as needed. • Participate in on‑the‑job training programs to develop additional skills. • Ensure personal and coworker safety by following Occupational Health and Safety rules. • Uphold environmental performance according to EMS processes. • Proactively engage in the risk assessment process for regional operations. • Be on‑call for after‑hours emergency situations; reside within 30 minutes of headquarters.

What You Bring

Successful candidates must have a Grade 12 education (or equivalent) with solid reading and writing skills, be able to perform manual labour, and be comfortable using common hand and power tools. Self‑motivation, the ability to work well with others with minimal supervision, and a strong environmental awareness are essential; experience in communications, forestry, or utilities is considered an asset. A valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with at least two years of driving experience and a satisfactory driver’s abstract are mandatory, while an off‑highway vehicle and trailer‑towing certificate is advantageous. The position is safety‑sensitive and requires compliance with Emera’s Alcohol and Drug Policy, including a confidential pre‑employment test. Physical capabilities needed include lifting 17‑66 lb, carrying 25‑66 lb, using both firm and precise grip strength, pushing and pulling 20‑50 lb, frequent walking, and performing various movements such as standing, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and occasional crawling. Colour discrimination, adaptability to warm temperatures, and the ability to work in confined spaces are also required. • Complete in‑house safety, environmental, vehicle operation, and position‑related training. • Comply with Emera’s Alcohol and Drug Policy, including a pre‑employment test. • Grade 12 education (or equivalent) with strong reading and writing abilities. • Ability to perform manual labour and use common hand‑ and power‑tools. • Self‑motivated, works well with others, and can operate with minimal supervision. • Strong environmental awareness; knowledge of EMS considered an asset. • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence with ≥2 years experience and satisfactory abstract. • Certificate for off‑highway vehicle operation and trailer towing is an asset. • Experience in communications, forestry, or utilities is a plus. • Lift 17–66 lb and carry 25–66 lb regularly. • Push/pull 20–50 lb using upper‑body strength. • Perform frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and occasional crawling. • Reach overhead and laterally from waist level. • Discriminate colors, work in warm temperatures and confined spaces.
