About the Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will provide process and optimization domain expertise to expand existing product offerings across varied industrial processes. You will support sales by identifying and quantifying optimization opportunities, develop technical proposals, lead delivery teams, and act as a subject‑matter expert for product ideation and feature implementation. You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and customers to promote AI/ML‑based optimization applications, work with global pre‑sales and regional sales to grow Cordant platform opportunities, and stay current on industry technology to disseminate knowledge within Baker Hughes engineering and services teams. The position also involves coaching and mentoring subject‑matter experts worldwide, fostering a safe working environment, and championing compliance, quality, and EHS culture. • Support sales teams in identifying, quantifying, and presenting complex process optimization opportunities. • Develop technical proposals for process optimization in LNG, fertilizers, gas processing, refining, and olefins. • Lead delivery teams during implementation and ensure technical success of the solution. • Serve as subject matter expert advising product team on industry use cases, ideation, and feature implementation. • Work with product managers, data scientists, and customers to drive adoption of AI/ML‑based process optimization applications. • Collaborate with global pre‑sales and regional sales to promote and develop Cordant platform opportunities, including Asset Performance Management solutions. • Stay informed of industry technology and innovation, disseminating new information to Baker Hughes engineering and services teams. • Provide coaching, technical mentoring, and development of subject matter experts globally. • Promote a safe working environment, driving compliance, quality, and EHS culture.

Baker Hughes is hiring a Solution Architect – Process Optimization, also titled Sales Advisor • Technical Sales. The role seeks an industry expert with experience in advanced process control and real‑time optimization for process plants, who will lead technical pre‑sales activities and implement the Cordant Process Optimization solution, which blends process domain knowledge with advanced machine learning. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent, at least ten years of experience implementing Advanced Process Control or optimization solutions, a passion for data‑driven/ML models, and strong communication and business acumen to influence senior‑level decisions. Experience in operating plant environments and engaging senior executive stakeholders is essential. Nice‑to‑have qualifications include expert‑level knowledge of APC and optimization methodologies, familiarity with plant data‑driven modeling and its limitations, and experience with complex processes such as LNG, cryogenic, syngas, fertilizer, gas processing, refining, and olefins. • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering or equivalent. • Minimum 10 years experience implementing Advanced Process Control (APC) and/or optimization solutions. • Experience and passion for data‑driven/ML based optimization models. • Proven ability to lead technical implementation of APC/optimization projects on complex industrial processes. • Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer engagement skills. • Business acumen and ability to influence senior‑level management investment decisions. • Proven experience working with people in an operating plant or other operational setting and communicating with senior executive stakeholders. • Expert‑level knowledge of APC and optimization technologies and methodologies. • Knowledge of plant data‑driven process modelling/analytics and its limitations. • Experience with varied and complex industrial processes, preferably LNG, cryogenic processes, syngas, fertilizer, gas processing, refining, and olefins.
