About the Role

The engineer will share responsibility with the department to deliver work aligned with WSP’s mission and culture, uphold high-quality standards, promote teamwork, and satisfy client needs. Under general supervision, the engineer will collect and analyze data from sites, surveys, GIS, geotechnical sources, and other matrices to support project development, design, and construction; perform basic civil engineering research and inspections; provide routine engineering functions and entry-level technical assistance; verify site characteristics; generate accurate documentation; and adhere to safety guidelines and company policies. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of transmission line design, including new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions, while working independently and collaboratively to meet business objectives.

WSP is initiating a search for an Intermediate Professional, Civil Engineer (Transmission Lines) for its Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. The role will be part of the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Team, contributing to projects that meet client objectives and solve challenges. Relocation assistance is not provided for this role. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. • 1–3 years of relevant post‑education experience. • Minimum 2.75 GPA. • Strong research and analytical skills. • Familiarity with design/build processes and concepts. • Knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and record‑keeping requirements. • Effective interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. • Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively in a team. • Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets, and related tools. • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite. • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • Willingness to travel occasionally as required by project needs. • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification (preferred). • Coursework in structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying (preferred). • Prior engineering design or drafting experience, especially in civil or structural engineering (preferred).
