About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle containers that may exceed 1,000 lb and must perform precise backing maneuvers in high‑traffic, congested environments. Residential drivers collect household waste, while roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top or compactor containers, often navigating tight overhead spaces on industrial routes. Key duties include operating the vehicle in accordance with WM safety rules, OSHA, DOT and all applicable laws, conducting pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, and completing DVIR reports. Drivers must immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions, attend required training, and work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. They are responsible for dumping receptacles, leaving sites clean, following assigned routes, completing end‑of‑day documentation, and assisting fellow drivers as needed. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with lift attachments safely and in compliance with WM, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch promptly. • Follow assigned routes, dump containers, keep customer sites clean, and complete end‑of‑day paperwork. • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and address customer requests. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and maneuvering heavy containers.

What You Bring
Applicants must hold a valid CDL Class A or B with an air‑brake endorsement, be at least 18 years old, and have at least one year of commercial driving experience or recent military driving experience within the past seven years. Legal work eligibility is required, and a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role demands physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. The position may require travel by air or access to federal property, so candidates must possess a REAL ID or a TSA‑approved alternative.
