About the Role

Key responsibilities include interpreting blueprints and specifications to determine material quantities and locations, identifying required tools, and assessing safety risks with appropriate precautions. The carpenter will measure, mark, and cut wood or metal to required specifications, construct, reinforce, and dismantle concrete forms, and build wooden forms and various structures such as decks, steps, and bulletin boards. Routine housekeeping and assisting other crafts when not performing primary duties are also expected. The role does not have direct reports but will work closely with and occasionally oversee helpers and laborers, holding positional authority over those positions. • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans. • Identify required tools and safety precautions for each task. • Measure, mark, and cut wood or metal to specifications. • Construct, reinforce, and dismantle concrete and wooden forms. • Build decks, steps, bulletin boards, and other wooden structures. • Perform site cleanup and housekeeping. • Compute measurements and perform basic arithmetic for material sizing. • Maintain reliable transportation and own necessary tools. • Follow all safety regulations and wear required PPE.

What You Bring

The candidate must be proficient in reading blueprints, sketches, and building plans and possess all required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role. They must meet the physical requirements of the position, have prior carpentry experience on industrial construction projects, and be willing to follow all safety rules and regulations. Additionally, the applicant must have the necessary tools and reliable transportation. Applicants must have at least four years of experience as a carpenter or carpenter helper on industrial construction projects and demonstrate proficient blueprint reading. They should understand materials, tools, and basic building techniques, be able to perform basic arithmetic, and work the full schedule with overtime as needed. Compliance with company and site safety rules and regulations is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include current or former employment with Zachry Industrial, an NCCER Industrial Journeyman Carpenter certification, formal technical education, and experience with concrete and rebar work. Physical demands involve extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as communication through speech and hearing. The employee must be capable of working at heights, using ladders, scaffolding, and fall‑protection equipment, and performing tasks in all weather conditions while wearing required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirators, hi‑vis vests, gloves, and steel‑toed boots.
