About the Role

The role involves independently performing mechanical engineering design calculations, technical studies, and preparing plans and specifications for diverse project types such as commercial, transportation, education, municipal, aviation, and federal facilities, while exercising independent judgment to apply standard design techniques that meet client requirements. The engineer will oversee design activities, originate project documents, and prepare reports and correspondence, ensuring that deliverables align with scope, schedule, cost, and quality expectations and comply with federal, state, and local regulations. • Interpret client mechanical requirements and develop detailed design documents, including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations. • Perform or supervise mechanical calculations such as heat load, fan, and pump friction loss analyses. • Model mechanical systems in Revit or AutoCAD, or guide junior staff in doing so. • Coordinate with clients, project teams, and other disciplines to design complete mechanical systems. • Review vendor submissions for compliance with contract documents. • Advise construction personnel on field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling. • Review and respond to contractor submittals and RFIs. • Conduct site observations and collect field data. • Support or lead proposal development teams. • Mentor technical designers and oversee junior staff. • Lead tasks and small project teams within multidisciplinary environments. • Ensure that drawings and specifications meet scope, schedule, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, have at least three years of relevant experience, and be proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, and Microsoft Office. A Professional Engineer license or EIT designation is preferred, and strong written and oral communication skills plus some experience leading small work groups are expected. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering. • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT designation preferred. • Minimum three years of relevant mechanical engineering experience. • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM tools. • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). • Effective oral and written communication abilities. • Experience managing small work groups or project tasks.
