About the Role

Key responsibilities include researching short‑ and medium‑term market trends to create strategic plans for monetizing WM’s natural gas and capacity portfolio in the US and Canada. The incumbent optimizes gas and pipeline capacity, originates deals, manages partner and broker relationships, and executes daily physical trades with financial hedges linked to Henry Hub. They also capture value from transport and storage options, contribute to index strategies, monitor pipeline outages and weather, and ensure compliance with risk limits and trade settlement processes. The position combines office work with plant and field duties, requiring repetitive motions, coordination of eye, hand, and foot, as well as sitting, talking, and hearing. Standard office equipment such as computers and phones is regularly used. • Research market trends and develop strategic plans to monetize natural gas and capacity portfolios. • Optimize short‑ and medium‑term natural gas and pipeline capacity in US and Canada. • Originate and develop natural gas deals to enhance asset portfolio. • Manage relationships with partners, counterparties, traders, and brokers. • Execute daily and monthly physical trades and apply Henry Hub hedges for risk management. • Capture value from transport and storage options, optimizing hub price differentials. • Contribute to monthly index strategy and negotiate with counterparties. • Monitor pipeline outages, maintenance, weather, storage levels, and flows to inform trading decisions. • Maintain compliance with risk limits, accurate profit and loss records, and timely trade settlements. • Coordinate counterparty approvals and collateral requirements with credit. • Utilize transport and storage contracts to manage capacity transfers and scheduling rights. • Collaborate with plant operations, compliance, and regulatory teams to define natural gas position. • Advise senior management on sales, trading, and hedging strategies. • Operate transaction systems such as Nymex, ICE, NGX and handle OTC transactions. • Build strategic partnerships and foster trust across teams and organizations. • Coach and develop others, providing feedback and growth guidance. • Make data‑driven decisions by analyzing diverse information sources. • Perform repetitive motions with eye/hand/foot coordination; work in a combined office and plant/field environment.

The role leverages recognized expertise in commercial natural gas marketing and trading across multiple commodities. It involves developing new business, managing client relationships, and overseeing natural gas commodity portfolios while understanding financial risk, pipeline logistics, and contractual requirements. Collaboration with plant operations, pipeline operators, risk and settlements, and environmental teams is essential. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus four years of relevant experience, with at least seven years in natural gas markets. Preferred experience includes hands‑on pipeline scheduling. The candidate must demonstrate strong character, effective communication, attention to detail, partnership building, trustworthiness, coaching ability, and data‑driven decision‑making skills. • Hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and four years of relevant experience; seven years in natural gas markets. • Preferred: Hands‑on pipeline scheduling experience with standard windows and balancing. • Demonstrate strong character, effective communication, and commercial focus.
