About the Role

The selected candidate will handle site development engineering and project‑management duties across a range of land‑development projects. Responsibilities include creating civil designs, obtaining permits, and using hydrology‑modeling and storm‑drainage software alongside AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The role also involves research, coordination, staff oversight, cost estimating, preparation of bid packages, and drafting technical specifications, while receiving on‑the‑job training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project finances, and client interaction. • Perform site civil design and permitting for land‑development projects • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications • Conduct research, coordinate teams, and oversee staff activities • Prepare cost estimates, bid packages, and technical specifications

What You Bring

Kimley‑Horn’s Reno, Nevada office is looking for a Civil Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with at least two years of experience to join its Land Development team. This is an on‑site role, not a remote position. Candidates must have two or more years of experience with a civil‑engineering design firm and hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an ABET‑accredited program. An Engineer‑in‑Training (or Engineering Intern) certification is required, or the ability to obtain it within twelve months. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, strong communication skills, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are also essential. • Use hydrology modeling, storm‑drainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D software • Hold 2+ years experience with a civil‑engineering design firm • Possess an ABET‑accredited B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering • Obtain EIT/Engineering Intern certification within 12 months • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills • Demonstrate urgency, detail‑orientation, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
