About the Role
The Pipefitter Helper assists skilled craftspersons by performing supportive duties under immediate supervision. The role involves planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of all types of piping systems according to applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work is performed in plant operations or construction jobsite settings, with a focus on learning safety hazards and the proper use of tools and equipment. Key responsibilities include cleaning the work area, restocking supplies, and assisting the pipefitter with lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation. The helper performs minor maintenance, uses hand and power tools to cut or drill holes, mounts pipe hangers and brackets, and loads, transports, and unloads tools and materials. Additionally, the helper learns to read plans and specifications and supports other craft workers as needed. • Clean work area and restock supplies. • Assist pipefitter with lifting, positioning, and securing materials. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning tasks. • Use hand and power tools to install piping, cut/drill holes, and mount hangers. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment. • Operate electric, gas, and pneumatic tools with proper training. • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, and steel/wood frameworks. • Work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions. • Communicate effectively with supervisors and make detail‑oriented decisions.

What You Bring
Physical requirements mandate the ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lb regularly and up to 100 lb occasionally, with frequent use of hands, arms, and legs. The role demands hand‑eye coordination, the ability to communicate effectively, and the capacity to operate various hand and power tools after proper training. Workers must climb, maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds, and perform tasks that involve bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, reaching, squatting, and standing on uneven or adverse surfaces, including confined spaces and weather extremes.
