About the Role
In this position, the engineer will perform structural analysis and design for ports, wharves, piers, bulkheads, and retaining structures, prepare calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports, and develop plans, details, and specifications. The role requires applying relevant codes and standards, coordinating with civil, geotechnical, coastal, and construction teams, and supporting projects from conceptual design through construction while maintaining organized documentation. • Perform structural analysis and design for marine and waterfront facilities such as ports, wharves, piers, bulkheads, and retaining structures. • Prepare structural calculations, technical memoranda, design reports, and supporting documentation per project and client standards. • Develop plans, details, and specifications in coordination with senior engineers and designers. • Apply relevant codes, standards, and guidelines to ensure regulatory and safety compliance. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, geotechnical, coastal, construction) for integrated project delivery. • Participate in quality control processes and address review comments under senior supervision. • Support project phases from conceptual design through construction support and maintain organized project files per AECOM procedures. • Utilize SAP2000, MathCAD, and Excel for analysis and calculations; produce design documentation using AutoCAD or Revit.

What You Bring
The company is hiring a Structural Engineer III for its Ports & Marine team to support planning, analysis, and design of marine and waterfront infrastructure projects in Seattle, WA, Houston, TX, or Orange, CA. This early‑career role is ideal for a candidate with a strong academic background and hands‑on experience, who will work under senior engineers and project managers. • Hold a BA/BS in engineering with at least four years of structural engineering experience (or equivalent). • Preferred: Master’s degree in Structural Engineering and exposure to infrastructure, transportation, marine, or waterfront projects. • Demonstrate strong teamwork, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
