About the Role

Downer plans, creates, and sustains essential public services across Australia and New Zealand, managing critical infrastructure such as hospitals, data centres, and defence partnerships to keep communities thriving. • Install, maintain, and repair centralized plant and HVAC systems. • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults. • Perform scheduled servicing, performance testing, and system adjustments. • Clean, calibrate, and maintain systems per warranties and compliance. • Participate in Zero Harm initiatives. • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and safety concerns. • Promote a proactive, team‑focused safety culture. • Manage and schedule own work effectively. • Support service improvement, quality control, and risk mitigation. • Collaborate with clinical staff, internal technicians, and contractors. • Practice safe work methods, including working at heights and with EWP.

What You Bring

Downer is searching for an experienced HVAC Technician to join the team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This full‑time role requires availability for a rotating roster of 5‑day, 5‑afternoon, or 5‑night shifts followed by two days off, with a break of about three to three‑and‑a‑half weeks between rotations during which standard day shifts are worked. • Communicate clearly through written documentation (timesheets, service sheets, dockets). • Hold Certificate III in Electrotechnology, Refrigeration & Air‑Conditioning. • Possess HVAC trade certification. • Have a South Australian Restricted Electrical Licence. • Hold a White Card (WHS General Induction). • Hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s licence. • Desirable: First Aid Certificate. • Demonstrated experience in HVAC installation, servicing and repair. • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills. • Knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards. • Team mindset with strong communication and customer service skills. • Reliable, organised approach and commitment to excellence.
