Sr. Data Center Technician

About the Role

The Senior Data Center Technician provides advanced front‑line support for IT and network infrastructure in raised‑floor data centers. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, and operation of cabinets, equipment, and communications services to keep client systems secure and available. Key duties involve responding to scheduled and emergency dispatches, performing rack‑and‑stack installations, dressing and connecting fiber and copper cabling, conducting visual inspections, power cycling, and replacing hot‑swappable components. The technician also delivers software support such as controlled reboots and device configuration under guidance, and serves as an escalation point for complex issues. The role requires thorough documentation in ticketing and asset‑management systems, receipt and tracking of shipments, and adherence to Service Level Agreements, safety policies, and security escort procedures. Physical work includes lifting servers, using ladders, and testing equipment while maintaining clean workspaces. • Respond to scheduled and emergency data‑center service calls, including after‑hours and security escorts. • Perform rack‑and‑stack installations, cable dressing, and hot‑swappable component replacements. • Conduct visual inspections, power cycling, and basic software support (reboots, service restarts) under direction. • Serve as escalation point for advanced troubleshooting and coordinate installation requirements with customers and facility services. • Document all work in ticketing, asset‑management, and compliance systems while meeting SLA metrics. • Ensure safety compliance, provide security escorts, and maintain clean, organized workspaces.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least three years of data‑center IT/network experience, plus one technical certification. Desired knowledge includes data‑center architectures, raised‑floor power and cooling, DCIM tools, TCP/IP principles, and relevant industry standards (HIPAA, ISO‑27001, PCI, etc.). Preferred certifications include Cisco, CompTIA, Microsoft, or Uptime Institute credentials. The position requires the ability to travel regionally, hold a valid driver’s license, work all shifts (7x24x365) and be on‑call, with the physical capability to work at heights and navigate uneven terrain. • Possess at least 3 years of data‑center IT/network experience and one technical certification (e.g., CCNA, A+, MCSA). • Demonstrate knowledge of raised‑floor power, cooling, DCIM, TCP/IP, and relevant security standards (HIPAA, ISO‑27001, PCI, etc.). • Travel regionally, hold a valid driver’s license, and be available for 24/7 on‑call rotation.
