About the Role
• Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundation using geometry tools. • Attach rigging or signal crane operator to lift components to the specified position. • Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames, tanks, or vats using plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles. • Hammer, flame‑cut, file, and grind irregular edges to facilitate fitting. • Position drums and headers into supports, then bolt or weld them to the frame. • Align water tubes and expand their ends to drums and headers with a tube expander. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning using tools and equipment. • Install manholes, handholds, valves, gauges, and feed‑water connections in drums to complete boiler assembly. • Assist in testing assembled vessels by pumping water or gas under pressure and checking for leaks. • Repair boilers or tanks in the field by unbolting, flame‑cutting, straightening, installing new tubes, and welding new sections. • Fasten and caulk vessel sections using pneumatic fasteners and caulking hammers. • Line fireboxes with refractory brick and blocks. • Fabricate parts such as stacks, uptakes, and chutes to adapt boilers to installation sites. • Apply flame‑cutting techniques and torch operation. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare and discern differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.

What You Bring
Journeyman – Typically 3 years and above documented field experience in chosen craft discipline with ability to read and interpret instructions and document, plan and perform work activities independently. A high school diploma or equivalent, combined with prior experience in the field, is required. The role demands knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures, with work performed under immediate supervision and according to established guidelines. Primary functions do not typically require independent judgment, and the employee reports to a supervisor or manager. The position requires considerable physical ability, including standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, and the capacity to lift, carry, push and pull loads of up to 50 lb. Workers must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle tools, and perform fine motor tasks. Frequency of these activities ranges from occasional to constant as indicated by the provided symbols. • Bolt or arc‑weld structures and sections together. • Bolt or weld casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles, and fabricated parts (chutes, air heaters, fan stands, feeding tubes, catwalks, ladders, coal hoppers, safety hatches) to the frame.
