About the Role

The Gate Attendant/Scale Operator is responsible for accurately monitoring and recording waste volumes entering the post‑collection site and collecting appropriate usage fees from customers. This role ensures that waste is billed correctly and that all transactions are documented. Key duties include determining the content of incoming material to generate customer invoices, accepting or rejecting loads based on waste type and suggesting alternatives when needed, and receiving payments while providing receipts. The attendant balances daily receipts, deposits them securely, and records waste volumes using truck scales and computer systems. They also notify operations of special or hazardous loads, process required paperwork, answer telephone inquiries, and maintain a clean work area. Additional tasks may be assigned as required. • Determine waste content for accurate billing and accept or reject loads as needed • Collect payments, issue receipts, and balance daily cash receipts • Record waste volumes using truck scales and computer systems • Notify operations of special or hazardous loads and complete required paperwork • Answer telephone calls and provide general information to callers • Maintain cleanliness of the work area

What You Bring

Applicants should have prior experience handling cash and balancing receipts, as well as familiarity with computers and various software programs. The position offers a pay range of $18.05 to $24.80 per hour, dependent on local jurisdiction minimum wages.
