Energy & Sustainability Manager
Strategic development and execution of energy retrofit projects across a building portfolio
Job Highlights
About the Role
The Sustainability and Energy Manager is tasked with the strategic development and execution of energy projects and the ongoing commissioning of a large portfolio of commercial buildings. The role requires identifying and implementing energy‑conservation measures, quantifying results and reporting value to demonstrate cost‑saving impact. In the current climate of heightened environmental awareness, the position is a key driver in reducing client utilities costs. The manager leads the end‑to‑end delivery of energy‑saving initiatives, from feasibility studies and design through tendering, construction and commissioning, while ensuring measurement and verification of both energy and non‑energy benefits. Continuous building performance improvement is supported through energy assessments, sub‑metering, collaboration with building technicians, and the development of low‑cost or no‑cost programs that engage tenants. The role also provides accurate energy reporting to internal stakeholders and external clients, and supports other project teams whose work impacts energy use. • Identify buildings suitable for energy retrofit projects and pinpoint specific energy‑saving opportunities. • Develop and conduct high‑level energy audits, re‑commissioning scopes, and remote assessments. • Recommend retrofit measures based on audit findings, analysis and feasibility studies. • Analyze building automation and control data to uncover low‑cost or no‑cost savings. • Direct consultants and contractors through design, tendering, construction and commissioning phases. • Support project managers in delivering initiatives that affect overall energy consumption. • Create measurement and verification plans and secure client approval for energy and non‑energy benefits. • Establish and maintain low‑cost/no‑cost energy programs, engaging facility managers and tenants. • Perform energy assessments when consumption deviates from expected performance. • Collaborate with building technicians to ensure continuous commissioning and performance improvement. • Educate technicians on energy‑saving practices and facilitate knowledge sharing. • Implement and manage sub‑metering and verification systems to track savings. • Monitor retrofit project performance and intervene when systems under‑perform. • Quantify, track and report energy‑saving results to internal and external stakeholders. • Provide energy reporting support to client‑facing teams and other organizational units.
