About the Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for the financial health of projects, including budgeting, cost coding, invoicing, and providing financial data to accounting for timely payments. They will manage subcontracts, select trade partners, oversee 3‑D coordination to resolve conflicts, and direct commissioning and closeout activities such as documentation and training. Additional duties include supervising assistant project managers and engineers, handling change orders, maintaining schedules, and ensuring quality, risk, safety, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. • Manage overall project financials, budgeting, cost coding, and invoicing • Create monthly owner billings and provide financials to Accounting • Oversee subcontracts and select trade partners and suppliers • Handle contract buyouts and manage change orders with approvals • Coordinate 3‑D clash detection to resolve conflicts before installation • Direct commissioning processes, including startup plans and functional testing • Lead project closeout activities such as O&M manuals, model turnover, and training • Supervise Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assign jobs, and approve timecards • Provide performance feedback and support career development for on‑site team members • Serve as primary contact for owners and on‑site representatives, resolving site concerns • Maintain project schedule and budget through completion • Ensure high‑level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance

What You Bring

Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager I who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and flexibility. The role provides overall direction and leadership on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) focused projects or MEP scopes within medium to large projects, overseeing quality, timeliness, safety, and mentoring the project team. It also emphasizes developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical engineering—or possess equivalent experience—and have at least six years of construction management experience, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor. Required skills include a solid understanding of construction law, proficiency with Microsoft Office and project‑related web applications, strong customer service orientation, and a valid driver’s license. • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field • Minimum six years of construction management experience, preferably with MEP contractors • Knowledge of construction law and business practices • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project/web applications • Strong customer service orientation and professional attitude • Valid driver’s license
