About the Role

Operators will precisely move earth using various dirt equipment, inspect equipment before use, and ensure all safety protocols are followed. They may follow directions from a signaler and assess the work area for safety issues and planning needs. • Operate bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, rollers, and graders to move earth. • Perform pre‑operation equipment inspections and basic mechanical checks. • Follow all safety regulations and signal directions during equipment use. • Assess work areas for hazards and plan equipment operations. • Complete equipment inspection paperwork and related administrative tasks. • Maintain reliable transportation and provide required tools such as raincoat and rain boots.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least two years of experience as a Dirt Equipment Operator and possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid driver’s license and a clean motor‑vehicle record may be required, and applicants must have reliable transportation and the necessary tools. Physical requirements must be met. Operators must be experienced with multiple types of construction equipment and have basic mechanical knowledge to inspect machinery. Familiarity with soil types, excavation specifications, and the ability to follow instructions accurately is essential. Consistent completion of administrative tasks such as inspection paperwork and adherence to safety regulations is required. Preference is given to current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employees and those with prior experience at Zachry Industrial, Inc., as well as a valid driver’s license. This position has no direct reports. The role involves extended periods of sitting, verbal communication, and extensive use of arms, hands, and fingers to operate controls and handle materials. Workers may need to lift up to 50 lb and must pass a visual acuity test, maintain dexterity, and wear required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather boots. Required tools include a raincoat and rain boots, and forklift experience is required. No certifications are required.
