About the Role

Lead transformative social performance strategies that shape the future of responsible development across Canada and beyond. This role offers a strategic platform for an experienced consultant who thrives in complex environments, enjoys guiding clients through high‑impact social challenges, and wants to influence sustainable project outcomes worldwide. As a Managing Technical Consultant, Social Performance based in Ottawa or Toronto, you will be central to advancing responsible development both domestically and internationally. You will help clients understand and mitigate social risks, build trusted community relationships, and align projects with global sustainability expectations. In this senior position you will shape project strategies, elevate delivery quality, and serve as a trusted technical advisor while mentoring junior team members. You will also contribute to ERM’s global Social Performance Technical Community by sharing insights, advancing best practices, and addressing urgent human, social, and community‑related challenges. • Oversee and ensure quality of data collection, management, and analysis across multiple project types. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary ERM teams in Canada and international offices to deliver high‑quality work. • Liaise with federal, provincial, local government representatives, Indigenous groups, and community organizations. • Mentor junior staff on technical approaches, project delivery, and consulting fundamentals. • Lead proposal development, including technical scopes, timelines, and cost estimates. • Prepare and manage health and safety for field‑based and community‑facing activities. • Direct project management tasks such as task delegation, subcontractor oversight, commercial performance tracking, and client interaction. • Translate technical content into plain‑language and visually appealing formats. • Build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, and diverse stakeholders.

What You Bring

The role requires a recognized degree in social science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) and at least four years of consulting experience delivering socio‑economic, land‑use, social impact, or human‑rights assessments. Strong project management capabilities, excellent communication skills, and an ability to translate technical content into clear, visual formats are essential. • Hold a recognized degree in social science or related field, or possess equivalent experience. • Provide at least 4 + years of consulting experience in socio‑economic, land‑use, social impact, or human‑rights assessments. • Demonstrate strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and project controls. • Understand sustainable finance expectations, including the Equator Principles and International Finance Corporate Performance Standards. • Exhibit excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and attention to detail. • Preferred: professional registration (e.g., IAP2), mining/renewables sector experience, integrated team experience, mentorship experience, intermediate French proficiency.

Benefits

Compensation includes an annual base salary of $93,309–$103,831 CAD, with potential bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package that covers paid time off, parental leave, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and retirement savings options.
