About the Role

• Direct and manage consulting firms for permit applications, construction plans, site monitoring, and regulatory submittals, ensuring final work product quality. • Serve as primary liaison with regulators, representing WM at permit meetings, hearings, inspections, and community forums. • Oversee landfill construction projects from plan preparation through final approval, handling consultants, contractors, budgets, bid processes, contracts, and quality assurance. • Track and report capital budgets for engineering and construction projects using company procedures. • Develop airspace calculations, capacity projections, and fill‑sequencing plans to optimize landfill capacity and cell construction schedules. • Conduct site visits to evaluate construction compliance, permit adherence, and expansion potential, proactively obtaining necessary permits. • Collaborate with internal experts to devise cost‑effective engineering solutions for operational, environmental, and compliance challenges across WM facilities. • Participate in acquisition reviews and divestiture evaluations, providing pro‑forma modeling and due‑diligence support. • Mentor and supervise WM technical staff assigned to the team.

The position seeks an experienced engineer in the environmental and solid waste industry with strong problem‑solving and management abilities. The engineer will lead engineering and construction activities at solid waste disposal facilities, communicate with senior management, and mentor junior staff. The role blends office and plant/field work, requiring routine use of standard office equipment and occasional field activities.
