About the Role

The Formwork Engineer II designs and prepares formwork layout drawings, addressing technical aspects such as material selection, system design, and implementation. The role supports project planning to ensure efficient, safe, and economical forming systems, with work occasionally reviewed and stamped by a licensed engineer. • Provide engineering input for proper form selection • Calculate loads for shoring, forming, and reshoring • Determine member sizes and proper spacing • Ensure formwork loads fall within crane capacities • Confirm framing layouts meet design load requirements • Design lifting and rigging equipment • Design temporary bracing for existing structures such as walls and floors • Review designs and calculations of Formwork Engineer I • Identify and resolve unique design issues on the project • Produce formwork shop drawings based on the chosen system • Produce pour break and crane layout drawings • Review construction drawings for dimensional conflicts and clarifications • Issue RFIs to resolve conflicts • Produce repetitive drawings for typical formwork layout • Maintain project drawing files • Plot and assemble drawings per Engineering Department standards • Compare and check production drawings to design criteria of construction documents • Identify safety issues on the drawings • Communicate with the field on drawing conflicts and resolve issues related to formwork • Maintain standard detail library • Ensure critical framing sections are shown on the drawings • Review and critique vendor‑supplied drawings • Participate in transition meetings to determine production schedule for shop and engineering drawings and work order production • Quantify take‑offs of form material for fabrication and shipment • Compare shop production with field progress • Produce work orders to shop for pre‑assembly of forms • Provide input related to delivery dates for formwork delivered to project • Perform pre‑pour inspections • Train and qualify others to conduct independent pre‑pour inspections • Supervise, train, evaluate, and develop direct reports

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, have at least four years of related experience, and be an Engineer in Training or licensed. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and a basic understanding of BIM is required, along with strong analytical and communication skills.
