About the Role

The team delivers a range of cost‑planning outputs, including order‑of‑magnitude and detailed estimates, estimating assurance, support for major programme set‑up and data management. Cost Planners are expected to produce accurate estimates, manage the estimating process at project level, and drive best‑practice standards within the organisation. Key responsibilities include preparing comprehensive cost plans for large or complex programmes, supporting change‑control processes, demonstrating value for money through benchmarking reports, and conducting commercial assurance and contractor negotiations. Planners must stay current with technical developments to provide best‑practice advice aligned with business objectives. • Produce accurate, comprehensive cost estimates and plans for infrastructure projects. • Manage and control the estimating process at the project level without supervision. • Develop and promote estimating best‑practice standards across the firm. • Support project change‑control procedures and value‑for‑money analysis through benchmarking reports. • Conduct commercial assurance activities and negotiate contractor offers. • Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge to advise on best practices. • Work remotely from the UK while delivering services to UK and global clients.

What You Bring

To meet growing demand, Turner & Townsend is hiring Cost Planners and Senior Cost Planners with experience in infrastructure sectors such as rail, airports, highways, water and utilities. Planners will serve as embedded resources or provide ad‑hoc estimating support through the company’s Estimating Hub, primarily for UK‑based clients but also for global projects on a remote basis. Candidates must hold high‑standard qualifications in estimating or quantity surveying, have proven experience delivering estimating or QS services on large projects, and be proficient with estimating software. Membership of a chartered professional body such as RICS, CIOB or A.C.E. is required or under pursuit. • Hold a high‑level qualification in estimating or quantity surveying with relevant experience. • Demonstrate proficiency with estimating software packages. • Possess membership or be working towards chartered status with a professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, A.C.E.).
