About the Role
The manager will drive delivery of sustainability outcomes for the DGS account, identify and implement opportunities to reduce energy use, emissions and resource consumption, and improve operational efficiency of building systems such as HVAC, lighting and BMS. They will plan, oversee and verify energy and cost‑saving initiatives using tools like NABERS and energy audits, and provide transparent reporting to support decision‑making and compliance. • Deliver sustainability outcomes and KPIs for the DGS account per contractual and policy obligations. • Identify, quantify and implement energy, emissions and resource reduction opportunities through audits and performance analysis. • Enhance operational efficiency of HVAC, lighting and BMS systems and support sustainability‑focused capital upgrades. • Plan, oversee and verify energy and cost‑saving initiatives using NABERS and energy audits. • Produce transparent, measurable sustainability reports for informed decision‑making and compliance. • Collaborate with DGS, BGIS teams, client agencies and contractors to achieve best‑value outcomes. • Maintain strong client relationships via regular communication, site visits and issue resolution. • Ensure adherence to contractual, quality, regulatory and government requirements. • Identify and support revenue‑generating sustainability and energy initiatives.

What You Bring
BGIS is seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to support our client, the Victoria Department of Government Services, Accommodation and Library Services, in achieving contractual objectives and KPIs while delivering measurable, long‑term sustainability outcomes in the built environment. The role focuses on energy efficiency, emissions reduction, sustainable asset lifecycle management and environmental reporting in alignment with the Victorian Climate Action Act 2017 and the Victorian Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF). A minimum of five years’ experience in environmental or sustainability consulting within the energy or building services sector is required, together with strong data analysis, stakeholder engagement and sales skills. Candidates should hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline and, preferably, NABERS assessor accreditation; Green Star or WELL accreditation are also desirable. • Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental or sustainability consulting within energy or building services. • Proven ability to analyse and interpret building performance, energy and water data. • Strong customer service, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and solution development skills. • Degree in Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services Engineering or related field (preferred). • Accredited NABERS Assessor (Energy and Water for Offices) – highly desirable. • Green Star Accredited Professional, WELL Accredited Professional or similar sustainability accreditations – desirable. • WGEA Compliance Certified.
