About the Role
The Utility will perform quality‑control duties, operate weigh scales, manage shipping and inventory, and support the company safety program while performing other assigned tasks. They will also assist with quality‑control inspections, ensure proper tagging and banding of poles and rail cars, and maintain yard housekeeping. • Identify defects per ANSI standards and classify unframed poles. • Identify pole species and sort material to meet customer specifications. • Read framing prints, select equipment, and operate framing equipment safely. • Make straight cuts with a chainsaw within ¼ inch deviation per 12 inch pole diameter. • Create tags and perform banding and strapping of rail cars and poles to AAR specifications. • Operate weigh scales independently and use weigh‑scale software. • Prepare shipping and export documentation and notify supervisors of shipments. • Communicate yard safety rules to truck drivers and assist QC inspections. • Maintain housekeeping and environmental stewardship within the department.

What You Bring
We are seeking a qualified Utility for our operations in Brierfield, AL. This role will assist as assigned with various activities such as operating the weigh scales, yard housekeeping, assisting quality control, shipping, and inventory management. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent education/experience), at least six months of pole inspection or framing experience (Framer 2 or higher), and the ability to follow simple instructions, read basic documents, perform elementary arithmetic, and present information effectively to customers and coworkers. • Demonstrate knowledge of shipping/receiving processes and contribute to the safety program. • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent education/experience. • Minimum six months pole inspection or framing experience (Framer 2 or higher). • Ability to follow simple instructions and read/write basic correspondence. • Basic arithmetic with money, weight, volume, and distance. • Ability to present information to customers and colleagues.
